SkyMiles for Business

What is SkyMiles for Business?

SkyMiles for Business is Delta’s new, free to join corporate travel rewards program for small and medium-sized enterprises.  SkyMiles for Business turns your business travel budget into rewards by converting the dollars your company spends on eligible flights with Delta, Air France, KLM, Aeromexico, Virgin Atlantic or any of our codeshare partners into miles. SkyMiles for Business rewards your company with miles for dollars spent on business travel by verifiable employees for published fares.

Who qualifies for the SkyMiles for Business program?

SkyMiles for Business is designed to reward small and medium-sized companies located in the US and Canada with a Federal Tax ID or VAT number. Companies that have negotiated discount fare agreements, travel agencies, wholesalers, consolidators and other sellers of travel are not eligible to participate in this program.

What are the different company tiers in SkyMiles for Business?

There are three tiers: Member, Plus and Elite

What is SkyMiles for Business Member Tier?

All new companies are enrolled into Member Tier. This is an introduction to the SkyMiles for Business program where you can learn about managing business travel as well as track your company spend and employee travel.

What is SkyMiles for Business Plus Tier?

To become a Plus member, companies must spend at least $5,000 USD in eligible flight revenue and have at least five unique employee travelers each calendar year. Plus members unlock all the benefits of the SkyMiles for Business program which include earning miles for employee travel as well as redeeming those miles for various rewards. Your employees continue to earn miles in their personal SkyMiles® account.

What is SkyMiles for Business Elite Tier?

Elite is the highest tier in the SkyMiles for Business program. It requires a company to have $300,000 USD in eligible flight revenue in addition to the five unique employee travelers each calendar year.  Companies in Elite tier receive all the benefits available to Plus members, plus a 15% mileage bonus.  To maintain Elite status, the company must continue to meet the minimum spend required annually and meet the five unique employee traveler requirement.

What is the difference between the SkyMiles for Business program and the personal SkyMiles® Program?

SkyMiles is Delta's frequent flyer program in which individual travelers can earn miles for flying on Delta or eligible partner flights and for using SkyMiles partners´ products and services. SkyMiles for Business is Delta's travel rewards program in which companies can earn miles for employee business travel on Delta and eligible partner flights, which the company may redeem for travel rewards.   Although program administrators are required to have a SkyMiles account, SkyMiles for Business travelers are not required to be SkyMiles Members.  When traveling for company business, employees who are SkyMiles Members will still accrue their personal miles while their company also earns miles in the company account. To ensure both the individual traveler and company earn credit in their respective programs, be sure the employee´s SkyMiles number and the company´s SkyMiles for Business account number are added to the reservation at the time of ticketing.

Will my SkyBonus ID change?

No, your SkyBonus ID will become your company’s SkyMiles for Business ID so there is no need to update your profile.

What will be the conversion rate from points to miles in the new program?

The new program will change its currency to miles. Following opt into the new program (a requirement to participate in the new program which allows for a seamless experience at launch), existing SkyBonus accounts will carry their Plus or Elite status into the new program, with any accrued SkyBonus points being automatically converted to miles. The conversion rate for existing SkyBonus accounts will be 3-to-1 based on the value of each currency.

Will eCredits continue to be a redemption option in SkyMiles for Business?

Yes, our popular dollars-off eCredits redemptions will continue to help reduce your business travel costs.  The conversion to miles redemption cost will be adjusted at roughly a 3-to-1 ratio.  For example, a $500 eCredit will require 50,000 miles compared to 150,000 SkyBonus points today.

Sample eCredit redemption chart in SkyBonus vs SkyMiles for Business:

SkyBonus Points SkyMiles for Business Miles
Delta eCredit - $25.00 7,500 2,500
Delta eCredit - $500.00 150,000 50,000
Delta eCredit - $1,000 300,000 100,000
What can my company redeem miles for?

In addition to keeping our popular dollars-off eCredits, a new feature will allow companies to transfer business miles to individual employee accounts to enable redemptions on award travel, seat upgrades, to cover fees for checked bags and more.

Will miles earned through the SkyMiles for Business program have the same redemption value as personal accounts? Is there a fee to transfer miles out of the business account?

Yes, the value of miles will be the same across the business and consumer programs. Miles will transfer at a 1-to-1 ratio and there is no fee associated with transfers from a SkyMiles for Business account.
